This week we recommend reading a book about classic fairy tale do-overs! These type of books are modern retellings of the classic fairy tale adventures, and recreate the stories into new themes and adventures. Today’s fairy tale remake is Snow Whyte and the Queen of Mayhem by Melissa Lemon.

Plot Review:

Told from the perspective of the man trapped in the evil queen’s mirror — you know the one: “mirror mirror on the wall” — into a young king’s determination to save his newborn daughter, Kat, from her wicked mother. The tiny princess goes into hiding, only to be raised under a false identity with no knowledge of her birthright. As it would turn out, many of those whom she would meet aren’t who they claim to be. When Kat takes her turn to meet the man in the mirror, she won’t even recognize herself.

Here’s a little more from the book’s blurb description:

Stuck in her family’s apple orchards, Kat’s got plenty of work to do and only pesky Jeremy to help. But when Jeremy convinces her to run away, Kat will discover that nothing — -and no one — -in her life is quite what it seems. Wonderfully reimagined, this is the magical tale of Snow White as you’ve never read it before!

I recommend Snow Whyte because this is one of those books that pique your inner child. There is danger, magic, and romance, all told in a new way you haven’t heard before. Check out your copy of Snow Whyte and the Queen of Mayhem here!
